Just finished reading the Trap, the new thriller by the queeen of spy fiction, Ava Glass. What I loved about this book is the brilliant way she gently takes the reader at the start and so envelops them in compelling characters and a web of intrigue that you can't put it down. But she doesn't stop there: she gradually ups the pace so that, by the second half, we're into high-octane territory and you just can't read fast enough. I loved Emma Makepeace - but I loved Kate Mackenzie even more and I really hope we see her again.
